Wine+Wax July 11th, 2024 at Stokelan Winery

Driving through the long, twisting roads of Medford, NJ, you would never know that this beautiful Estate+Winery exists unless you made a wrong turn, or had already planned to make a trip there.
The truth?! You NEED to know it exists. Nestled on the backroads off of County Route 616 in Burlington, NJ, lies one of NJ's most unique and exquisite wineries!
Never heard of it?! Well, after reading this, it will be a MUST-visit on your weekend day-trip list.
We pulled up to the estate on a hot Thursday summer afternoon, to set up for the class. Tables lined the front of the building, already filled with smiling guests enjoying a cool glass of wine on a sunny summer afternoon. The sun was just starting to head into the western sky, giving off that perfect late-afternoon glow on the winery.
As we stepped out of the car, we already felt the jitters of excitement at the vastness and uniqueness of the winery itself. A beautiful white historic estate stood before us, rich in New Jersey agricultural history.
A quick walk around the grounds proved just how much passion, love, and detail has gone into this beautiful establishment. Everything feels like it is out of a Home & Garden magazine. From the charming lavender-filled gardens in the back to the ivy-filled tents that feel like an oasis, right down to the interior looking like a page right out of Magnolia Magazine.
We had the pleasure of working with Alicia Dickerson, the manager at Stokelan, who absolutely went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable, were set up, and that all of the guests signed up for the candle-making class were very well taken care of.
We set up our hot-pot, got the wax up to temperature, put out the summer candle scents, and got ready to teach 15 amazing guests how to make candles!
As we greeted the arriving guests, we were shocked to find out that a good portion of everyone who came to this class was unaware of Stokelan Winery upon arrival. Everyone was just as taken aback as we were, completely in awe of the incredible winery and estate.
We began our class as everyone started with their first drink of the night, with many guests opting for the frozen drinks or sangrias to cool off on a beautiful summer night.
We had a great mix of some guests who had made candles before and some who hadn't! All of the guests were so excited to personalize their very own mason jar soy wax candle!
This crowd was ready to mix their own scents, combining fragrances like Bergamot, Lavender, Linens, and Ambers!
We poured our candles, then the guests got to enjoy more wine and an incredible menu of scrumptious bites, like flatbreads, charcuterie boards, and many other delicious items from the on-site kitchen!
Then, we moved into the part where everyone got to unleash their creative side! It was time to design labels! For this class, being that it was a summer class, we brought lots of summer-inspired stickers and basics for the guests to create summer-inspired labels!
As the sun began to set, many of the guests took some time while the candles were drying to take a stroll around the property and enjoy the cool summer evening air while sitting in the garden!
Then it was time to talk candle care tips and send off the guests with their candles and a bottle of wine for the trip home!
We ourselves made sure to take home a bottle of Rosé, which we indulged in a glass over the weekend!
It truly was a perfect summer night with Wine+Wax at Stokelan Winery. We look forward to MANY more amazing candle classes at Stokelan Winery in the future!
Stay tuned for more updates on where we will be for candle classes, how our candle classes go, and WHEN we will be back at Stokelan Winery!
